Every commission begins with an idea.

Working closely with clients, Giles Lawson Johnston develops bespoke concepts that bring together the character of the whisky, the form of the bottle and the individuality of the commission. Through collaboration, an initial vision is refined into a considered piece of craftsmanship.

For this private single grain Scotch whisky commission, Giles developed a bespoke bottle design incorporating engraved glass, brass detailing and individually considered elements to create a distinctive presentation.

From the earliest design concepts through to the finished object, each stage is an opportunity to explore materials, refine details and bring the original vision to life.

Giles works collaboratively throughout the design process, combining the client's ideas and ambitions with his experience as an artist in glass. Sketches, materials, finishes and proportions are explored before the final design is realised by hand.

The result is not simply an engraved bottle, but a bespoke object created specifically for its purpose — where design and craftsmanship become one.
